Analysing Adverts

The following is pictures of two different adverts, with a set of questions and answers that go along with it as the questions analyse the adverts.


What audience is the ad targeting? 

The audience that this advert is targeting is for kids and teenagers as those are the age groups that use skateboards. 

What technique does the ad use? 

Claim because it explains to you how the skateboard works as the advert says how it has four wheels and that you can stand on it, etc. 

Why do you think these techniques were chosen for this target audience?  

To describe the features of the skateboard to make it seem appealing. 

What does the ad suggest or say about the product or service? 

That they do not know how to use persuasive language and have made the price too high for a skateboard that goes a bit fast and is not bad

What does the ad say about the people who buy the product or the service? 

That they are not looking for the best quality skateboard and that they did not compare it to other skateboards and prices. 

Was the ad successful? Why/ Why not?

No because the quote that was used is not persuasive as the person states its not bad, as well as that the advert says that the skateboard only goes a bit fast. Also, it states you can buy it if you want to and that is not very persuasive.

Kids and teenagers, 

What technique does the ad use? 

They are using a variety of techniques, such as games and activities as they are showing the skateboard being used, they are also using hype as they called the product skate-tastic and are also using testimonials as they have gotten a quote from a person (celebrity) how the product is great. Lastly, they are also using sales and prices as they talk about how the prices are bargained of 25.99 pounds. 

Why do you think these techniques were chosen for this target audience?  

To persuade the age group to go and buy the product. 

What does the ad suggest or say about the product or service? 

That they think about what would persuade the targeted age group, as they have used different colors and have listed the features and why you should buy their product. 

What does the ad say about the people who buy the product or the service? 

That they are persuaded by colors and the techniques the advert used. 

Was the ad successful? Why/ Why not?

Yes because they used persuasive language in their advert
